At beginning of his carrier, Bachchan was struggling to get success. But he gets breakthrough from the film Zanjeer (1973). The film screenwriter was Salim-Javed, consisting of Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar. From that film, Abhitab Bauchan got the fame and conceived the “angry young man” persona of the lead role. Salim Khan introduced Bachchan to Prakash Mehra and Salim-Javed insisted that Bachchan is cast for the role. In 1975 he played many hit films written Salim-Javed such as Deewaar (1975) Sholay (1975). Salim Khan introduced Bachan to Manmohan Desai ( film director) and gave many hit films and later he also works with famous film directors like Yash Chopra and Prakash Mehra. In association with then, he gives many hit fils and became one of the most leading heroes in Indian cinema. The most popular and hit films were Zanjeer, Deeewar, Trishul, Kaala Patthar, Shakti. The performance of these films makes Bachan image as an angry young man. In 1973 he married Jaya Bhaduri. They had played in many films like Abhimaan . with Rajesh Khanna he played in Namak Haraam. In 1980 he received Best Actor nomination for Kaala Patthar and Raj Khosla directed film Dostana, Dostana became the top-grossing film of 1980. In 1981, he featured in Yash Chopra’s melodrama film Silsila, where he featured together with his wife Jaya and also Rekha.

The film was moderate success and promotion of actors like Arshad Warsi and southern film star Simran. In 1997, Bachchan makes his acting comeback from the film Mrityudata which was produced by ABCL. ABCL had sponsor Miss World beauty pageant in 1996. However, it lost millions. Bachchan gave commercial success films with Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (1998) and Major Saab (1998) and gain positive appraisals for Sooryavansham (1999).
